a new perspective.

last night was very strange for me. for those of you who don't know, i'm playing a soldier's wife in my church's Judgment play this year. but i'm also a soldier's wife in real life whose husband is deployed. while i knew this year's role could be very emotional for me, i didn't expect the reaction and train of thought i had last night.
after i say goodbye to my soldier in the play, i walk off stage and then back on to read a letter. at the end of the letter i'm supposed to cry but the past couple of nights i've had a hard time making myself cry. and then last night during the second show the tears didn't start until i was walking off the stage and i couldn't make myself stop for a few minutes. but instead of being upset about my husband being deployed, my mind went to a very different place.
why is it only in moments like that (moments where you say goodbye to your spouse to send them off to war) that the focus is the possibility of never seeing your loved one again. we should face every goodbye, everyday with that kind of intensity. God has not promised us a set amount of time on this earth. even when our military loved ones are home, we need to remember that every moment is precious. and this doesn't just apply to military families. this applies to civilian families also. no one is promised tomorrow, or even the next second...please cherish your loved ones with that thought in the back of your mind. you don't have to focus on the possibility of death but make sure you do your best to tell them and show them how much they mean to you.

and so it goes...

makeup last night went eerily smooth! i am definitely thanking God! i was waiting for the insanity to hit but everyone slowly drifted in, got their makeup done, and went on their way. it was great and my helpers are amazing! now if only the preview had gone as good as the makeup did. but it didn't go horrible. just a few issues, some technical and some acting. i know my scene missed its blackout but all in all it was a good night. tonight we're filming and tomorrow we open to the public. i'm so excited.

dress rehearsal and preview.

last night was our dress rehearsal and final practice for the judgment. it was a little rough but i am praying for God to move in tonight's preview for the church. while it would be easy to assume that everyone that attends tonight is already saved, that is not always the case. sometimes this production opens a church member's eyes to things they were unaware of before.
makeup was insanity but could have gone much worse. i think that tonight will go much better, at least that is my hope. now that most of the cast members know how they should look and know what colors they should use, it should go much smoother tonight.
but i would still like for everyone to keep this production in your prayers. the emotion i have to convey and the stress all cast and crew are under leave us all vulnerable to satan's attack.

and so it begins...

tonight was my first night of judgment practice. i got the role of "soldier's wife." it will be an interesting production for me this year. i started to tear up just in practice. this role just hits so close to home for me. this isn't just acting, this is something that mirrors the biggest aspect of my life. i will definitely be depending on God to carry me through this production. i know that even though i don't have any lines, my character will touch many people. its one of the reasons i love being in the judgment. you never know which character, whether they are a main character or just someone in the background, an audience member will relate to. you never know which role will make an audience member decide that they need God. i know that i need him!
